right front wheel knocking

hi all,

got this prob with my 95 max - the right front wheel knocks going down the road on bumps and the top of it has some "freeplay" when yanking in and out. anybody know what that might be? i just replaced the outer tie rod end because i thought that might have been the cause...now i'm thinkin wheel bearing? help me guys before i start spending too much money.

If your outer tie rod, or inner tie rod end for that matter, was giving you any trouble, it could have been caused by, or caused the bearing to go out. If so, more than likely the spindle is gone, too. I would recommend taking it to a shop and see what they say. Plus, if you don't like their answer, you can always take it somewhere else to get a second opinion.

is there a werid sound from that side at high way speeds

if so its your bearing u have to replace that and the hub.if not it my be your lower ball joint.does it knock also when step on the brakes.

my educated guess would be the bearing is shot. drive about 15 mph with your passenger window down, and if you hear a slight grinding or screeching sound from the front right, then it's for sure your bearing and hub.

thanks all 4 input,they told me at the shop that my strut bearing is out and that was the problem. they'll do it for about $240 and that's parts, labor and alignment...pretty steep for a small thing like that but don't have much choice
