This is always very subjective....how many miles were on the 08 Rogue?
Are you saying that the 2012 has a much "softer" ride? If Nissan did tweak and re-calibrate the suspension slightly, you would notice trade-offs in terms of lateral stability when cornering - does the 2012 feel different in the tight turns? With softer suspension you would expect more body roll in the turns.....

Maybe he means the engine/trans is smoother? the topic isnt very descriptive...
or could be he went from an AWD to a FWD? (the AWD handles much stiffer)

I can't speak for the 08's, but the 2012 I have drives well. Very smooth, with a bit of body roll but as expected for a crossover suv. Compared to my 05 Sentra this Rogue rides like a frigging caddy.

Don't know about the 2008 but the 2012 does have smoother ride than the 2009. Nissan probably re-tuned the suspension. Also, the 2012 has larger wheels (18 vs 17) which could contribute to the difference as well. The CVT is also different. I wrote about the difference earlier. 2012-vs-2009-t555599.html?hilit=honva#p6310347
