just curious if your front end lifted up after you swaped a CA for a KA and if so, how much?

especially those of you with aftermarket shocks/springs.

i have removed my AC and power steering components and just curious how much it may raise the front end of my car if any with the weight difference.

i am running kyb/agx shocks with RS*R springs.

AGX + Prokits, raised at least an inch.. KA's are somewhat heavier and the first part of the Prokit springs are so damned soft.. so changes in weight make a large difference in their performance. I hate my prokits! But they're better than stock.. stupid overly progressive springs.

Hopefully that'll be fixed once I toss on my NISMO S-Tunes, JDM spec y0! Mmm.. linear spring rates..

I did not notice a change in ride height before and after, and I had my Nismo S-Tunes on about 3 months before the swap.

I've got OEM springs and struts and my ride height changed HORRIBLY. It's aweful and I'm embarrased. Luckily my car is fast....in a straight line.

Damn I need suspension....

Float youre like super auto cross guy always talking about losing power in the midrange and down low, s15 diff, 4.3 rear end with stock suspension?

I would have guessed you would have done something of that first, to me the suspension of the 240 is the worst attribute of the whole car.

I know. This is actually my 4th 240sx. My last one had a full suspension on it. Unfortunatly I wrecked it and had to sell all of my parts to pay for everything. I intended to do the suspension on this car first as well, but my poor KA-E gave up on me. 205K miles, worn rings, broken exhaust mani studs, it wasn't worth a teardown and rebuild if I wanted a motorswap anyway, so in went the CA. Then it crapped out on me, so I had to rebuild it, and that's where I'm at now.

I have tein s-tech springs and kyb gr2 struts and after my swap it seemed like my front end lifted up a little. Time for coilovers

As I stated earlier in the thread, KYB AGX adjustable shocks and Eibach Prokit springs. The Prokits are horribly progressive springs, soft at the beginning and hard at the end, they are so soft at the beginning that the 100 lb or so different from the KA to the CA made a 1" or so difference in ride height at the front.. linear rate, or at least, less horribly progressive rate springs, won't have this affect as much: case in point, rico's car didn't budge when he already had s-tunes on, and did the swap.

.. also, I can either adjust my shocks for comfort over minor road undulations (the soft part of the springs) or for actual cornering performance (when the car leans over and hits the hard part). Obviously I chose cornering, but this means I get horrible oscillations over some surfaces and all kinds of just plain uncomfortable.

can't wait to get my s-tunes installed, linear, non adjustable, but just the way NISMO / Nissan intended! So in theory they should just "work". If I'm not happy I'm selling them and getting "real" coilovers :P

the stroke on my front shocks is so short that i only get about 1.5" of suspension travel. ive got H&R sport springs (linear, woot!) and only the last coil is uncompressed.

my 240 came with the sport package and i really didnt notice a difference in height at the front when i swapped in the CA. i dont know what difference there was in the shocks and springs, but it always seemed to handle very well with the stock suspension.

what is there, something like a 100lb difference between the engines? my dad and i can lift the CA together, but we couldnt move the KA

~100lbs is a rough overall weight difference.. but that includes all the extra piping, IC, turbo etc. and could vary based on setup (large FMIC would have more piping and bigger IC for example)

short/long block KA vs CA would be a larger difference in weight

sport compact car weighed the KA back in the day. i think it was something like 497lbs with the transmission. very, very heavy for a 4-banger. i havnt the slightest clue what my little CA weighs though.

It's cuz the KA has got such a long stroke. That makes the motor really tall. It is a truck motor after all... Hehehe
