Does anyone know whether "sport mode" causes the shocks to wear out faster than "normal mode", on the FG Y33's? Perhaps ride control has nothing to do with shock absorber longevity, but I've often wondered this... please inform.

Not that I know of.
I have had both a '91 Toyota Turbo supra and a N/A surpra.Turbo had this function also. Both needed struts at about the same time.
If I'm not mistaken. Sport mode just changes the valving of the strut.
