the 240 i just bought had some rust spots inside the hatch when i gutted it.. i went over to it and just used rust-oleum metallic silver spray paint.. but i dont exactly know why i did that..

anyways, how can i get rid of rust and prevent it from rusting back? any help would be nice, i read in some posts (after searching) that..you sand the area down of any rust, rust protector (whats this?), bondo (?), primer(?), then.. paint i believe it said.. but..

id ont know what half of those things are.. i only know them by their names and sanding wont sand through the metal would it?

thanks!

how bad the rust? You shouldn't need to bondo it if the rust is just light layer and nothing serious. Theres something you could try called Rust Bullet. You basically just sand and spray. It tells you everything you need to know on the website. A search should turn it up. Ive heard lots of good things about it, but its a bit expensive and you need a spray gun.

Wash your car on a regular basis. Some people seem to think that every couple weeks is enough.Once a week.

so its the spoiler holes that have the rust right? for now u should use electric tape or duct tape to cover it up for now. Youll probably have to sand down the rust and fill the holes in with bondo. I think your supposed to use metal shards to fill them up for better strength. Then probably prime it and paint.
