Ok in all honesty, I have seen the specs between the ka24e and de but how much slower is it? I mean 15 hp less cant be that slow plus I know its a lighter engine. Anyone got track times? I just want to know so if I end up getting a sohc its not going to be even slower than the dohc i had.

bleh sorry posted twice on here and ka section

sohc has higher compression... if u can find DOHC head, harness and ECU... swap it.

it'll make like 175 i think at the wheels with light tuning.

stock i think the sohc makes only 145ish

Sorry for the mild thread jack but, st33f, I've been away for a while. Did the headswap issues get sorted out or is it still hazy for the average do-it-your-self mechanic?

If so, for approximatly 200 horsepower, a DE with an 8 psi turbo set up would probably be the better solution. Not because it would be easier to do but because of all the information and support on Nico.

if u get everything the swaps not hard... and yes a turbo is a better move - but its cheaper. and $ talks.

Geo, he's talking about putting a DE head on an E block.

The reasoning is the same as putting E pistons in a DE engine. The DE head and E pistons combined yield a compression ratio of about 11.2:1.

Unfortunatly few people have suceeded in doing the head swap. It seems that most people end up with a ton of grimlins. However, the money factor is important since many of the major components can at times be obtained for almost nothing.
