Rice is anything that either doesnt belong on your car ex.(gtr or type r stickers) or something that is too big or you dont need ex.( aluminum wing) Or if you put all of your money into a body kit and wheels and no performance mods. plus many more.

Rice is overuse of unpainted body kits, 20" chrome rims on a slammed car, large stickers of parts you don't have, unsightly oversized wings, eurolights, or anything that doesn't belong anywhere near your car being accentuated on it. http://www.anti-rice.comhttp://www.riceornice.com

those sites should help you out, though sometimes they are even too cruel on riceornice :pface

Oh no, not this again. lets hope that this thread doesn't become a flame war if it lives past a few pages. While the term rice is used harmlessly in most cases, I for one don't care for it because of where it comes from. It used to (and still does in some circles) describe asian foreign vehicles i.e. "rice burner" because they eat rice so much in asian countries that they must use them in their cars too. most people have already hit on the general meaning of it in this thread and it now includes what people do to domestic as well as import cars. this, however, does not mean that I think it should be banned or censored, I just don't use it and I wanted to put my two cents in.

The term "rice" if not mistaken was first used by owners of domestic cars to mock japanese cars that were overmodified. They used the term "rice" to mock how much rice japanese people consumed and associated it with thier cars. The fact that the word "rice" is almost spelled the same as the word "race" makes more interesting to them(most domestic car owners), especially when their mocking a car that has racing equipment installed. We(import car owners) use this term to mock overmodified cars not knowing its true meaning- discrimination. And no, I am not japanese- I am an american born Puerto Rican/German.

Ha I knew what it mean a long time ago--thats true, import car owners use it to say a car is overmodified. And another story about the whole rice thing was around the 70's, when japanese sports cars finally started making appearances, domestic car owners would say the ran on rice. But enough with the history lesson.

rice is 100% of your performance parts coming from checker/schuck's/kragen, pep boys, or autozone, and/or putting them on a car that was never meant for performance.
