what all would be required to make a duplicate 270R? i know the nismo edge body kit (i believe that is the name? i know **** about body kits) the rims are different, dont know what kind, it has some kind of hood vent, 270R emblem where the 240sx ususally goes, and a nismo emblem where the SE usually goes, some kind of decal package, and a different spoiler that i dont know what its called.

can anyone clear this up? my car needs some bodywork and i was looking into seeing how much it would cost to duplicate this look, say, minus the rims. (although i would still like to know what came on them if anyone knows) i used to like the 97-98 look when i first got my 95, but now the smooth, laid back roundyness has grown on me and i wouldnt trade it for a thing :)

i don't know the 270R life story but i do know it came with Nismo wheels and JSPEC had a set not too long ago.i am not sure of the name of the wheels, but i think they were NSR or something to that effect.

The wheel is called the Nismo NS5R. http://www.jspec.com/tommykairapror.html

The 270R was built in Japan by Nismo in 1994. Only available in black, it also came with the Nismo "Edge" aero kit, "270R" stripe, a Nismo 365 steering wheel, Nismo 444cc injectors, 195lb/hr fuel pump (R32 spec), Nismo heavy duty clutch, Nismo mechanical 2-way LSD (diff ratio - 4.11), strengthened driveshafts, R33 Skyline Type-M brakes, Nismo engine mounts, Nismo Type-D springs/bushings/strut bars. BTW, tires were sized 215/50/16 Front and 225/50/16 Rear. Also, a limited edition plaque mounted inside glove compartment.

Whole bunch of Nismo goodies = a really nice S14.

i doubt it.the 270 probably meant it was pusing around 270 horsepower

your logic would mean it had a 2700cc SRusing your logic, you coudl also say the 400r had a 4000cc RB

270 ps @ 6000 rpm (forgot what "ps" converts into horsepower).

Little bit of Nissan trivia for those of you who haven't got it yet:Nissan tends to label their cars based on displacement, for example:

early 180sx was powered by the CA18det, hence 180sxUS model s13 powered by ka24e/ka24de, hence 240sx300zx powered by vg30de(t)...this is even true for the earlier Z cars, 240z,260z, 280z

Given this info, I would say that 270 stands for a 2.7 liter engine, not 270ps, but I could be wrong....

you are.

does anyone know if the hood vent is an attachment that can be bought through nismo and installed on a stock hood, or if it is actually incorporated into the hood, so that the entire bonnet would need to be purchased?

I did a little more research on the Nismo 270r, here is what I came up with:

engine= inline 4bhp=270@6000bhp/liter=97.44this would equal a displacement of...you guessed it 2.77liters

before you ask me if I know anything about engines maybe you should go back to basic mathematics.

here is where I got the information:

http://www.fantasycars.com/derek/cars/270r.html

Coincidence that bhp=displacement, maybe but probably something intended by NISMO

where the hell did they come up with an additional .7 liters of motor? That's a lot of additional displacement if its true.

I have also seen that there is confusion as to the drivetrain of the 270R. I have seen that it is RWD and/or AWD. Know ing a little about engines and their construction, I would say that the previously shown displacement of 2.77L is next to impossible with the SR20DET, but what if they used the RB26 and increased the displacement from 2.6 to 2.77. This could mean that there is some truth to the AWD possibility.

I came up with 2.77 liters of displacement by dividing bhp by the bhp per liter or 270/97.44=2.77L

"Derek's exotic cars" might not be the best place to get your information from :rolleyes

Even if someone did manage to stroke the SR20 out to 2.77 liters there is no way in hell it would rev to 6000 rpms, where it makes its maximum power. The most i have EVER seen a SR stroked to is 2.2 liters.

270R does NOT denote displacement, get it out of your crazy head.

The nismo 400R = 2.7 liter, 400ps

it stands for 270ps. thats it. nothing else. no SR27. there is no way in hell you could stroke an SR20 to 2.7 litres. nissan never used the RB in a Silvia from the factory. this is just something tuners started doing.

Like I said before, the 270R relates to the 270ps. It still has the SR20DET. The reason it has the greater horsepower is from the 3" exhaust, custom ecu, more aggresive cams, front mount intercooler from the R32, larger fuel pump, and larger injectors.

2.7 liters? Silly fools...

At least Jspec and Megaseth get it. :)

jebus, thankyou guys. NOT 2.7 liter sr, 270ps. DONE.

before this gets WAYY too far off topic, can anyone assist in answering my original question? I am trying to figure out all the exterior differences because i will hopefully be getting a new paint job soon, and have multiple things to fix body work wise, and in most cases a body kit would be cheaper than repairing the stock pieces, so i figured i would try to make a replica while i was at it :)

does anyone know where to get the body kit besides ebay? (i have another post specifically about this). also does anyone know what spoiler is on it? i believe it is the s14a k's spoiler? can anyone confirm? and im gonna have to skip out on the nismo grille and wheels, too rich for my blood. finally, does anyone have any info on the hood vent?

As far as the exterior goes: Nismo "Edge" aero/body kit, the "270R" decal strip, black paint (only color they came in, not sure on paint code), and well rims/exhaust. The hood scoop is unique to the 270R and might be hard to find (or make a copy of).

The rear wing is the Nismo Rear Spoiler Type-A...
