What do you think should I paint the hood?

This question is in regards to pure asthetics only, not whether or not its a waste of money to paint a cf hood...

Should I paint it?

Many people like the way cf hoods look in contrast with the paint, but the all white pic looked classy.Only thing that bothered me was the wing. =\ I think other people might tend to agree on these boards.Nice car though. :)

if the hood has a glossy finish to it already I don't see much point in painting it unless you want a stock look with less weight.

honestly, i think naked cf looks smooth. something about the textured look underneath the hard, clear, polished surface (that's the resin, right? i know jack about cf, lol) gives it a unique touch. maybe if i had a second car to pimp (read: pretty much not EVER take to a track), i think i could do a cf hood. and yeah, i'd be doing it for the look, not weight savings. so i guess that would make me rice. oh well, screw it. i don't care if it's supposed to make ur car look really fast or bling and slow. i just know that i love the way it looks...:D

I think it would be classy and give it an added edge(sleeper like). I see too many cars around here with the oem hood painted black to look like CF.

the carbon fiber looks good, don't paint it. Yeah, the all white is good looking too, but if you lay down the money for a cf hood, why would you paint it?

To me how much weight does a CF hood save....maybe what 10lbs. To me painting a CF Hood is like having a $500 paperweight...wasted money.............

I second that, my hood was ridiculously heavy, my new carbon fiber one weighs approx 8.9 pounds.

With $500 I could swap to 5 lug and have 300zx brakes all around. But to each his own, still looks pretty cool...

Dude are you tellign me a stock hood weighs 50-80lbs??? Didnt feel like it when I hauled that ***** out of my garage and I cant make a comparison because I have never touched a CF hood but I DOUBT that it weighs 10 lbs. My mind cant fathom that...maybe it does weigh 10 lbs...I dont know.

it weighs 10 lbs or less.

if the car is white i say paint it, if the car is a darker color , or has a CF spoiler then leave it.

I'd say yes, the stock hood is in the range of 50-70 lbs...and the cf hood was approximately 13....it was only about 100$ more than a stock hood, so to me it was negligable....

I ended up not painting it, and I'm fairly happy with my decision, the car looks really clean...I also ended up going with the JDM k-wing and I must say that its a really nice combination...

Also, that car in the photos above is not mine, I just happen to have the same model, body kit and color, that's why I used it...

maybe if you painted part of it, like over the head lights and angled out as you go back along the crease, that might be something to photoshopa buddy of mine did this to his civic and it looks...oooh ooh ohh

THE STOCK S13 HOOD ONLY WEIGHS LIKE 30-40 POUNDS. ITS NOT THAT HEAVY, BUT THE SAVINGS FROM A CF HOOD IS A PHENOM. ITS EASIESTLY ONE OF THE QUICKEST/CHEAPEST WEIGHT SAVERS.

Yeah, that stock hood is light guys...it MIGHT be 30 lbs. If it feels like more, go work out more ;)

first, make sure the hood can handle not being painted, i think there is a UV coating or something of the like. i would always paint carbon fiber....i sure dont plan on leaving my fenders and doors raw...race cars are full carbon fiber, they're painted.

the only application i liked of a nice raw hood, was the signal auto 180sx's, i think they pulled it off because the near black rear hatch window is so large. personally i wouldnt even consider an unpainted hood, but then i dont even like sunroofs on an s14.
