So I am at dinner tonight, explaining to my friend's wife what "Rice" is. I was running through all the basics. :nono

1. Wing on your car that is higher than your roof (honest, the wing adds 20 more hp at the wheels).2. Giant emblems of Japanese figures.3. More neon bulbs than your local tavern.4. 22" chrome dubs (now I know I didn’t just say "dubs").5. Ground effects that do not match the color of your car (my car has 3 shades of primer).

So my question to you all is, what is the weirdest/gayest/craziest rice you have seen on cars? Is "rice" inclusive or exclusive to certain car owners? Please enlighten me on this issue. :help

I saw a kid making fun of rice... He took the pipe off of a leaf blower and attached it to his POS Probe as an exhaust pipe. It was funny as ****.

Ahhh The old "RICE" debate. This is a never ending term. Most of what is RICE is your pereption. Most people use it as a term to label those cheep, pointless add-on's (large wings, led warsher lights, type R stickers, exhaust tips,ect...) I dont use it myself and try real hard not to bash on other peoples taste. Some cars look good with the over sized wing.(the ones that need the wing for downforce);) j/k

Haha, always have to change the focus to you.... damn attention whore:pface My first car was a Pontiac Sunbird, and I riced the hell out of it. All the mods were from Wal-Mart.

- neon purple bass light- large soccer ball air freshner- chrome shift knob- chrome racing pedals

Heh, rice is a stage everyone goes through. When you first break into the industry, you think certain things are cool. These things turn out to be stupid once you learn more. If someone comes on saying that they never went through a rice stage, they lie.

I honestly didn't go through that phase. When I started getting into cars, going to street races, ect. I owned an automatic 94 sentra xe. I made no mods to the car, so I was able to just read my *** off and watch cars and look at the scene for two years. I then purchased an 85zxt in which the only mods were clutch and air filter...now I own the 240. So no rice for me...I got a big enough taste from my friends.

Not me. My $ went to turbos, heavy-duty actuators, downpipes, injectors, etc.

Rice to me is spending money on crap that doesn't do anything to improve the performance or looks of a car. Very subjective.

It's like p0rn. I can't define it, but I know it when I see it. :D

I explained what rice was to my girl. And now when she rides with me she calls the "rice mobiles" out! (I find it sexy)

She also tells me she wants her car to be a sleeper(thats my girl!)

I always thought I was too old to be a ricer. But I do have a 240Z with plastic ground effects and a picnic basket wing.

Does that make me a ricer or just an old fart with bad taste?

We all have a skeleton or two.

A picnic basket wing is that big tall rear wing that sticks above the car like on a Supra, only higher. It looks like the handle on a picnic basket.

Things I deem ricey (just my opinion, hope no one takes any offense):

- Decals of brands you don't have, who don't make products for you car, or which don't belong on your car (nismo on a honda, Type R Badges on anything except an Integra Type R).- Big wings: unless its from like C-west, Veilside, JUN, etc.(something nice), APR sucks, ditto for anything from APC. And only if you don't go around saying you need the downforce, we all know its 90% for looks, unless your pushing like 500hp or compete in top-speed races. - Triple-Deck wings, no excuses.- ANYTHING from APC. - ANYTHING from Matrix (Chrome wings? WTF, like the regular ones aren't bad enough)- ANYTHING from OBX, TenzoR, or any of those other cheap-*** companies who copy other company's ideas, these companies are the lifeblood of riceboys.- Anything that lights up when it shouldn't have from the factory,(shift knobs, illumni-gauges, emblems, windshield squirters, valve stem covers, anything under your car, the list goes on and on.)- Replacement headlights or tailights that don't come from the factory (Altezzas/projector headlights).- Headlight/tailight conversions. Period. Your car's fine the way it came from the factory.- Any body kit with the word "style" or "type" in its name (Blitz "style" body kit, "Type" C-west body kit).- 70-80% of body kits. They're all either cheap quality, ugly as hell, ripoffs, or all three. - Any custom body work, such as any scoops or vents, shaved moldings, with the exception of fender flares from JUN, URAS,etc. those are sweet. - Racing stripes, unless they're on a viper, or those sweet Signal Auto stripes.- Chrome. Of any kind. You know what I'm talking about. It doesn't belong on any part of your car.- Exhaust Tips, or coffee can exhausts. Anything that sounds remotley like an electric toothbrush gone haywire.- Cut Springs.- Springs that lower your car 4.5 inches.- Blown Shocks.- Discount tire rims.- Custom interiors.- Car accessories you buy from Pep boys, O'Reily's.- Performance Parts you buy Pep boys, O'Reily's.- Working on worthless cars like Kias, Daewoos, rice right from the start.- Cavaliers, Neons, Focuses, Cougars, unless your like John Lingenfelter, the only thing you CAN do to these cars is rice them out. If your going to work on an american car, then don't do it half-assed and get a V-8.- Working on family cars, Altimas, Accords, Camrys, etc. They're called family cars for a reason. You never see 240sx station wagons.- Having 3 20" subs, I want to listen to my music, not have it beaten into my head.- Having a t.v or video game system in your car, I don't know about you but I have a hard time playing Tekken 4 and driving at the same time.- This one isn't ricey, just stupid: Getting parts from the Japanese counterpart of your car which your car already has, like getting the japanese civic a/c vent just because its a different design. - Show Cars.- Saying something is "Tight" (Every riceboy I know says that).- Living in a van down by the river. You don't know Jack Squat!

Eh, I'll think up some more later......

well..... what a list! I try not to sweat how people choose to make their car look/perform.

"- Working on family cars, Altimas, Accords, Camrys, etc. They're called family cars for a reason. You never see 240sx station wagons."

actually they are called sedans. and i've seen skyline wagons, wrx's, and altima's that would blow the doors off alot of 240's(and civic ex's).(not even going to mention the audi, bmw, infiniti 4 door beasts)I say hook anything* up

my two cents

*except daewoo and kia lol

dammit you know what I mean, it looks sweet on a cadillac, but what about on like a civic or corolla? right?

And I'm not trying to sweat people on how to work on their cars, its their car and their money, they can do whatever they want to it, makes no difference to me. I'm just saying things that go through my mind when I look at another japanese car, those are things I would consider ricey. I'm just so damn sick of looking at nothing BUT rice, its like every damn car in my town is just plain old rice, I would love to see just one nice, cleanly done car somewhere around here.

I'm not saying my cars the ****, this is by no means whatsoever. The civic is just my daily driver and occasional road racer, fast by no means whatsoever, kids on skateboards could probably take my civic. and my 240sx is soooo badly in need of a paintjob, new shocks, tires for the rims sitting in my bedroom, a new head gasket, and a new exhaust. as of now I would say I probably have the crappiest 240 of anyone on this board. I'm just saying that if your going to go spend a lot of money on working on a car, choose a good platform, I'm sure there are plenty of fast family cars/sedans, I'd just rather get a sports car, wether the sports car is a coupe or station wagon. ( MasterMan thanks for bringing that to my attention, I totally forgot about Skyline and WRX Station wagons, my bad).

- Headlight/tailight conversions. Period. Your car's fine the way it came from the factory.

there goes my dream of the s15 conversion :(

- Exhaust Tips, or coffee can exhausts. Anything that sounds remotley like an electric toothbrush gone haywire.

- oh Hell there goes all the red bulbs I have put in for the light next to my headlights, my gauge lights, my 5 inch tach, and my nitrous pressure gauge

Dude, I said stuff that lights up from the factory, Your headlights and gauge lights did light up from the factory, and your tach and nitrous pressure gauge didn't come from the factory, I'm sure they're all in good taste though.

-there goes my dream of the s15 conversion

Hey, its your car, do what you want. I'm sure it wouldn't look half bad. I just wouldn't do it to my car. I was referring to people with civics who do IS300 or Supra headlight and tailight conversions. C'mon now is that ricey or what?

-damn man there goes my 2 1/2" pip with no cat and a magnaflow muffler cut a guy a break I shooting for performance not sound

I said nothing about mufflers and piping. I'm just saying, you don't think coffe can exhausts (and I meant people who literally have a coffee can on their exhaust) and exhaust tips are ricey?I'm getting a GT Spec for my 240 and have an N1 on my civic, you don't think I'm shooting for performance too?

-I'm leaving the mustang rims buddy no matter what ya say I'm shocked I got 17x8's under the car with 245/45's and all for $200

Hey man more power to you. one of the most original ideas I've seen, apparently a good deal as well.

-there goes my dream of my sr20 motor

I meant I'm not shelling out sixty bucks for a dumbass A/C vent which does the exact same thing the one in my car already does. My KA, however, is a very very far cry from an SR20.[

FONT=arial]-I might live in a van down by the river but I eat my far share of government cheese

take it easy with that stuff man, God knows what goes into it.....

Again guys, those were just my OPINIONS. Don't take them personally, I realize it might be kind of a tight-assed list, but its only because I'm serious about my cars.

BTW Redrocket, that little kitten thing in your sig is one of the funniest things I've ever seen, tears in my eyes man, no joke. Where'd you find it?

If i remember correctly I got it off of sublimedirectory.com not putting www cause its an adult site an it was on their pod or pic of the day couldn't resist taking it and from now on you can refer to masturbatlon as killing kittens we do its kinda funny if someone walks in on a conversation and thinks you are a satan worshiper or something for killing kittens an btw my list was to mess with ya everyone is entitled to their on opinion
