Here, have some context:
CNN wrote:The Providence Journal reported Monday that the White House determined ahead of Obama’s trip to the state that there would be no formal endorsement of Caprio – a rare snub from the president to a viable Democratic gubernatorial candidate, especially in a year when the party is desperately trying to maintain its advantage in statehouses across the country.
I can't wait for the election to be over.

For you, I'm sure it doesn't. Without the context, a random observer might take your comment and the title to mean that a Presidential endorsement has been snubbed. "The wheels are coming off" sort of implies a certain type of situation.

In context, it becomes clear that there weren't any wheels to come off in the first place.

I still can't wait 'til the election's over. This is the worst part of politics.

And they'd be right. That's exactly what happened.

Where the reporting fails is, WHY did he snub this guy? What's Obama's issue with him? And if there's none, then why the snub?

That's not at all what happened.

Obama snubbed the Democratic gubernatorial candidate because the independent candidate backed him in 2008; I don't know if he's going to back the Chafee, but he's not going to against him. The Democratic candidate didn't have an endorsement to snub.

Yes. The President snubbed the gubernatorial candidate.

If you were aware of this, just what did you mean by "the wheels start falling off?"

I never implied that someone failed to endorse the Pres.

It's not 2012, so that "random observer" would have to be 1) an idiot, and 2) too lazy to read.

Wheels = The infighting and internal fracturing of the party - and this isn't the only instance.

Feel free to overanalyze, though. ;)

I didn't say you did, Greg - the OP didn't make it clear that there had been no endorsement at all to shove.

There's been no infighting here - the Democratic candidate is not preferred by the Democratic Party head. Nothing to fight about. There are, again, no wheels to come off. If you want to talk about actual examples of infighting, maybe you should point to them.

:) Ankles, hell. We got booty shorts. "Come as you are" is the name of the game.

Too bad it's not that way everywhere, I think more people would attend. :)

Since this has already been thrown off track a bit, I don't feel bad...

Greg, does that offend you at all? I used to be critical of people who wore attire that didn't seem to fit the location. You would never catch me wearing shorts, and most of the time I wouldn't wear jeans either. Holidays were in nothing less than a suit. Doesn't some of that seem disrespectful to you?

And, once again, look at my track record of disrespect. Even I think there is an issue with this. That's saying something.

That's an exaggeration - there's no booty shorts.

However, it's definitely very casual. Definitely a "jeans and shorts" church. And no, I don't see it as disrespectful. I look at it this way: Church is, for the most part, for the non-believer. Yes, it's a place for believers to be fed and to worship and fellowship, but it's important to not judge those who are seeking... My God doesn't, so I shouldn't either.

Hope that makes sense, and doesn't sound too "preachy". :)

This shouldn't cross any lines, but if it does go ahead and delete it:

I don't find it preachy at all. And while I said I was critical, I didn't really call people out on it - not really the time or place. I guess my problem was (and remains) the demonstrated lack of devotion. As I got older, it seemed like people made it such a chore to go to church. If you can't allow something to alter your normal routine (clothes/cell phones/talking/etc), how dedicated are you? (Not a "you" directed at anyone in particular - just a general questions for people everywhere). So my issue isn't really with what people are doing, it's more the appearance of claiming one thing but doing another.

...and we're all guilty of it.

I've blown off attending church since Stacey passed away. I really need to get the family back to it, but I've been, for lack of a better explanation, lazy.

But we all do it. Dieting, working out, studying, worshipping, doing chores... there always seems to be an excuse. :(

I agree. I stopped going to church for many reasons, but that's not for here.

So I'll change the topic a bit. I've been lazy about dieting or working out on numerous occasions. I've made up excuses for not doing both. I have no problem with people doing that. Now, if someone does that and then tries to claim they are the most consistent about either, I begin to have a problem.

Back to the original topic, did anyone catch Jon Stewart's piece on democrats trying to distance themselves from Obama for these upcoming elections? I found it quite amusing.

Making more sense now. I thought the wheels falling off comment was a bit odd with only one instance showing a disconnect between the pres and a candidate (image presented in the OP). I really do hate politicians. And election season.
