Long Story short: Rhys Millen partners with Pontiac, driving the new GTO in the Formula D Drift Series. The car is ugly too.

Im just not to fond of the new GTO in terms of looks. The power is nice and it probably handles well. But, I just dont like it. Like the 2005 Mustang, the looks are just dumb. Personal preference

I think it's great that some domestics are getting into the drifting scene. Everybody loves an underdog, and this american car may be just that... I hope it kicks ***.. :D

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Rhys is a good driver, I havent seen much of his drifting skills though. We'll see how he does against the Japs.

They didn't live up to the original GTO's looks by any means... but the performance of that car is very nice.

I agree. It has very ordinary looks similar to a montecarlo or impala imo. The front end especially looks very weak.

But I'm sure its performance makes up for its cosmetic shortcomings.

LOL! Post that vid up!

I read about that GTO and they said that they booed him at first, but they had some respect in the end. I guess he didnt do too bad.

No, they booed him at th start, then Keiichi turned around and admonished the crowd for being a bunch of closed minded *****es.

Granted, Rhys wasnt doing GREAT, but it was his second day of driving the prepared GTO, and you could SEE him improving.

Funny, after Keiichi told them whats what... they shut up. :)

after watching the video, the only underdoggedness i could see would be the car looking kind of big.?I think he will kick *** as long as he keeps it on the road... win... idonno?

That GTO ROCKS!! I saw him at Formula D1 in Atlanta. If he was in the final, it definitely wouldve been him and the viper going at it. I saw them working on it, so I assume he broke something. That car is extremely impressive in person, whether or not you like the way it looks, you have to respect it. Like gttune says, there's nothing underdog about that GTO......just my opinion

He got pretty badly booed in D1 at irwindale. He stopped getting booed as much when the japanese judges showed support for the domestic. Personally I dont think he did that great because maybe the car is simply too limited, or maybe hes just not good enough compared to the japanese drifters.

Honestly I think the car was crap as far as a drift car. However, that just serves to give me more respect for Rhys since he was able to make such a good showing with it.

yeah the vid was cool. he wasn't going as fast as your normal drift, but i guess with all the weight and power, it was easy at lower speed. i found it on some japanese website? didn't save it though.
