I've been juggling the idea in my head since I decided to get a front clip instead of a motorset. I'm just wondering if anybody has any info on what needs to be done to convert LHD to RHD at the time of the SR20 swap. I'm still not sure that I want to do it, but I would at least like to check out some info about it before I drop the motor in, just so I can say I contemplated it.

I'd kinda like to be a little *different* i guess.

way more then you'd want to deal with, includes a whole bunch of welding. more or less your going to attach that front clip onto the front of your car. your best bet would be to just buy a RHD car and bring it over. I spoke with one guy in canada who was doign the conversion he had over 7 grand into the car and it was no where near completed.

nah, I'm not attaching the front clip to my car. Already thought about that, but why are these cars junked, cut, and sent here? Accidents. So, if that was an option, the frame may be bent, and all the other supports probably are, and that's a little more in depth than I'm interested in.

exactly man, it was a decent thought though. I'm not really all that big on the whole JDM thing, like i'm not gonna run out and get different window stripping just cause its JDM, just so happens with the S13 they made the best looking model and damn best motor ;)

yea, the issue with that RHD swap is the firewall. you would have to do a **** load of fab work to make anything work, and then you'll be luck if it even works well.

there is a S13 coupe on ebay right now for like 3k that has the SR20det and full car, looks to be in good shape.

may want to look into that

would not be road legal, but i'm sure if you cared enuff you could find all VIN number locations and steal them off your 240 and place them on the S13 from japan and magically thats the car that gets checked when the numbers are ran.

dont forget that wont fool any emissions people, maybe just some fat ladies at the DMV or lame cop.

Nah, I already have a 240 and I already ordered my engine, I don't want to buy another one.

So the general consensus is that there would be too much fab work to the firewall to get it to work?

Also, I'm not big on the JDM thing, I just thought it would be interesting to have a RHD car. Maybe I should be happy I have LHD though...... I'm right handed.

Someone on FA posted some pics of there RHD conversion, too much work. It would take longer to do that than install the SR. LHD isnt too bad, it just means its a little bit harder to work on the turbo and other parts on the left side.

You don't want to go RHD. RHD isn't really legal (but neither is the engine). When you've got an illegal engine under the hood, you really don't want to attract too much attention to yourself.

RHD is also inherently unsafe in the United States. When you're passing (on the left, like you should), how do you see around the car in front of you? What about properly judging distance of oncoming traffic when turning left across traffic?

You will also never pass inspection.

I'll admit, it looks cool, but you won't be unique for it (though you will be MORE unique the LHD) - it's been done more than a few times on the show circuit and with other cars.

If you want to be unique, I would focus on things that haven't EVER been done before. :)

why not just import a whole silvia then... since engine and RHD going to be illegal anyway!!
