Post

So, having introduced myself to the group earlier I am now posting some more pictures and questions. There are interior pictures that were not in my intro post. I recently purchased what has been determined to be a model 1964 by the wide grill with the irregular indicators incorporated into it. The previous owner told me it was a 1965. And as you will see from the interior pictures I am posting, it has a floor shifter which I understand was only available on the '65. I have ben unable as of yet to view the frame code number as they apparently sit directly below a dual horn assembly.
It has some front end collision damage and I hope this is the reason it went to salvage. The odometer reads 22,565 miles. However there was a pile of gaskets on the floor board (now on seat), so maybe some one was planning to do some work on it and maybe it needs it. I need to clean it up. Check the motor a bit by pulling the head cover and oil pan? The wiring harness looks in tact except for the engine compartment and ignition switch. I bet some one chopped it up and added wires getting around not having a key. Anyway, after some cleanup my first step will be to try and figure out the wiring mess in the engine compartment so I can get spark and ignition. Any direction, suggestions, etc would be appreciated. I'm new to this game, so... RIch

Protocol question. is photobucket-copy into post ok (I kinda got this figured out) or is it preferable to link to flickr as other members do? Is text properly above or below picture?

RG,
In my opinion, you most likely have a pickup built at the end of the 64 production run in the model change-over period with the 64 grille and the floor shift transmission. It was not sold till 1965 and was cowl-tag stamped and titled as a 65. The ignition switch is available on Ebay for about $20 or less. I bought one a couple months ago. That windshield will probably be the hardest item to acquire to get this one back on the road if the motore is not completely clapped out. If it needs a complete rebuild, the parts can be found, it just takes time. There are a good number of interchangeable parts from other engines. Just ask here if you decide to rebuild and need to start scrounging parts.

Steve,
Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the info. I started reading your build thread "Might Mouse" .. and I have to say that is quite impressive.

Whew, I just caught up on 'Mighty Mouse' 320 Pickup Gets a New Motor & Upgrades. It is a great thread, very engaging and I was disappointed there was not more.
Meanwhile I've made a bit of progress. It has been quite hot in Southern Arizona and there is only a few hours in the morning that I'll work on the truck when I have time. I got my garage squared away and the truck moved in, but the garage has no HVAC, so it as hot (or hotter) inside as hot. But I have gotten it fairly cleaned up and started dismantling and I've sourced some parts, including this generator, which I hope is correct. It came with a Hitachi alternator, that was poorly set up. But I am shooting for the truck to be as original as I can manage.

RG320,

Just a heads up on the generator - it may be from a John Deere tractor. Here's the one I had in my '64 -

It will work, so don't give it away.

That looks really close. Except mine is clearly labeled Datsun 320 (just joking).

I live in north Tucson. I'll be traveling up to Scottssdale about every other weekend this winter starting in mid October. I'd like to get by check out the finished NL320 you mentioned to me. And I saw that you plant to do an NL project as well.
