I recently test drove a '91 240sx le. While I was driving, I noticed that the RPMs were jumping quickly. Is this normal for a KA24DE?

when were they jumping? when you kick it, or when it idles or whats the deal. help us help you.

my fivespeed revs a lot faster than my auto, despite the same modifications... maybe you are used ot auto adn this was a five, or you just drove dogs for cars before

Could just be that I was use to the way my brother's manual cicic cx was acting while I was learning how to use a clutch. But to answer your question, it didn't seem like it was jumping through the RPMs, it was just revving up alot quicker than I'm use to. But I guess there is a difference between a 1.6L and a 2.4L.

Hehehehehe yes 240's are faster than civics. So therefore the 240 will rev faster. If it's sparadiactly** then probably a slipping clutch.

If the rpm's were not steady at idle then its the common dirty AIV issue these cars have. Simple solution is to disconnect the AIV system and clean the MAF.

Is it revving smoothly or real quick but not really going any where? The latter, as said before me, would be a slipping clutch. And yeah the 240 is much torque-y-er (is that even close to a word??) than a Civic, so maybe not so much as revving faster but just more torque. Yay for KAs!

The RPMs weren't jumping, and the car seemed to picking up speed very quickly. I was just concerned that there might have been a problem in the motor that would have cost me $$$$.
