I blew my head gasket at the track tuesday so while I have it apart I figured I would ensure it would be reliable down the road.

So far Ive ordered a HG set from mynismo.com....hopefully they have the set in stock or I'm screwed and I'll probably order a MHG.

But the plan was to use an OEM headgasket and ARP head studs and maybe rod bolts. This would ensure that it would be reliable. I do want to set my redline to 7200-7500 once I have an upgraded turbo as Ive seen a few dyno sheets revving around there.

I was also going to gasket match the IM and all that fun stuff. So would OEM HG+ ARP head studs be reliable to 7500 or would ARP rod bolts be a good idea?

And for higher then that would cams and springs would be needed right? A friend will be selling me rb26 cams cheap once his build head is back from the machine shop.

Stock is 7500 fuel cut, Carl said he went to 8k without springs. Me I got springs because I'm scared like that lol. No real point reving that high if your power starts to fall off early. I'll let u know how far 270's go with a big turbo on a RB20 in a few months .

Really? my maxima tach only goes to about 7200, and I figured it read high.

When I had it dyno'd on my friends dyna pack he said it cut out at 6700. Maybe the calculation was off though.

Yup I had a RB20 tach in my cluster. Would show me reving to 8k but then I double checked with a revspeed meter.

i used to rev my rb20 on stock springs to around 8500, did so till it blew a hole in a piston due to unrelated issues.dont even bother with rb26 cams unless you have a set of adjustable gears and plenty of time, and they ALSO happen to be r32 cams as none of the other ones will work.

After 4 years of seeing that video.....was that starting off the roll in first or second gear?

Car sounds very good by the way.

It was prob a 1st gear roll it's been a long time since that vid was made. I think I only had the Greddy exhaust on it and stock side mount.
