Revolution Sensor

I was having the not wanting to upshift syndrome happening occasionally. I unpluged the Rev Sensor and problem has gone away. Car seems to shift as it always has with the Rev unplugged, but how long can I safely drive it this way? I mean there has got to be a reason the Rev Sensor is there.

Is this something that can be obtained used with any success?

are you talking about the "speed sensor" and does ur car get stuck in 3rd gear if so its called fail safe mode
