I am having a problem with my 97 J30. It won't shift properly and when I hook it to my computer I get a 1075(pd) output speed sensor circuit. I took it to a trans shop and they told me it was the VSS sensor so I tracked one down and replaced it. Still the same problem, and same code. I am now thinking its the revolution sensor (which I hadn't previously known exsisted), here's what the car does: When I come to a stop it will sometimes not downshift until I am completely stopped causing the car to lurch forward. It also will not downshift at appropriate times sometimes and will be in a much higher gear than I need for the speed I am doing... sound like revolution sensor symptoms to you? I also get the A/T light flashing at me numerous times when I start the car. I actually counted it before but I forgot how many times it flashes now... maybe 12x's?

Don't know about the codes, but is the line to you turbine revolution sensor saturated with ATF? Could be a clue.

The FSM has a great way to interpret the flashing codes, yes it does short flash 12x with the trouble code flashing a long flash...The revolution sensor is the first flash, meaning you will get a pause between flash sets, then one long flash on the first flash, then 11 short flashes.

If you dont have the FSM, download it.I am having a problem with the revolution sensor too, but it is over-revving at idle, and making jumpy 1-2 gear shifts...I just ordered it from a junkyard for replacement.

The FSM has all the probable causes of transmission troubles in a very clear table.

Once you replace the turbine revolution sensor, you'll wish you had a new one when the used one fails.

Gotta second Brians statement, way too labor intensive of a repair to cherap out using a used part here as the junkyard part could easily fail soon after installation

There is no savings to be had by replacing a cheap used part multiple times when the labor to get to it costs more than the part brand new!

I haven't looked at it yet and it will probably be a few days before I get a chance now (just came down with a bug so I'll be out for a few days). Is there actual fluid lines coming out of this sensor or are you just talking the wires? if just the wires, why would there be fluid on them and how would this indicate a bad sensor?

Thanks for the input so far.

The revolution sensor is just three electrical wires....the FSM shows how to test the revolution sensor using a multimeter across the three leads....
