Would you want to pay $400. plus for motor mounts & trans mount for your KA24? I've inherited a 93 vert. Since then I've replaced many parts and I am still dumping money into what I thought was a great car. You have to love verts. This one is nice but not enough to justify the kind of money I've had to spend just to keep it on the road. I would like to get the kind of gas mileage some of our members boast. I extimate 12 to 14 mpg around town and maybe 15 on the highway. I don't drive like a maniac. Recent tune up did very little to change the mpg. I needed to order motor mounts. The link on this site to Nissan Parts is a little cheaper but the parts department in Gastonia, N.C. dealership has 3 or 4 different prices online with a $46. shipping charge and a $50. handling fee. You can pay over $400. for a set. You can pay with shipping $219. for a set through another site on line. I need the upper fan shroud for my vert. I also advise anyone shopping for parts online to have access to a parts department (either locally) or online for parts numbers. I like talking to someone before they screw me. What no kiss? Anyone with great parts connection should post. I wish you all a month of care free driving before having to spend money on this rice rocket monster of a piece of nighmare garbage headed for a place in my living room right next to my toilet where once stood the wall I crashed the car into to make it fit where it ****s.

When you buy a 13 year old somewhat rare import, you should anticipate paying a fair amount of money for parts.

i'd be more than happy to rid you of that "rice rocket monster of a piece of nighmare garbage" if you don't mind. i'd be willing to dump money into that car if it's clean (ie. no rust).

ish is right on the money. it's an old, rare imort. it's going to be expensive to keep it on the road. especially when you get real nissan parts .

You might consider purchasing your parts used instead. Since most are interchangeable with coupes and hatches I've had no problem finding them at the local salvage yard, on ebay, or on this forum's classified for a fraction of their price no matter how esoteric the part. I haven't been dissapointed yet. Good luck.

I agree with Glyph.. most parts for 240's can be found used at a fraction of the cost. Heck... make us a list of what you need.. and we'll all keep our eyes open for parts for you. Watch the classifieds as well.. there are usually a few people in the process of parting out a car that will have things like mounts available for you.

Shoot.. you can get an entire KA engine in good working order for $400.. no reason to pay a dealership that much for new mounts..

What else do you need?? Let us know..

As for your gas milage.. something is very wrong. You should be in the mid 20's for gas milage. I had an S14 a while back that got me over 30mpg. Replace your fuel and air filters. Make sure your catalytic converter isn't stuffed. Put in new spark plugs. Something has to be causing your problems... 15mpg is NOT normal. You have a problem.

My wife gets 17 around town with her 350 cu. in., 5,200 lb. Chevy Suburban. 12-15 in a 240 is WAY off.

In my 420 whp S14a, I am getting 26 with boosting at least once a day.

i've all ready got dibs madcow...

everyone is right about the used parts... if you don't mind using preowned parts, it's a good way to go. but i do konw some people (and maybe you're one of them) that always needs brand new parts from a dearlership. not saying there's anything wrong with that. i'm sure we'd all love to be able to afford that luxury...

it'd be great if you can figure out what your fuel troubles are and make the necessary repairs. these cars really are worth holding on to. they're a lot of fun AND it's a nice looking convertible. if you're not willing to put the time into the car, there's a bunch of us who are. so let us know if you need help or need a new home for the vert... because i'll come get it or pay for it to get trailered.

I know the routine of shopping for used parts. I think that junk yards don't sell used motor mounts, besides I am sure nobody in their right mind would pay $400. + for 3 new ones. I did another search and found new ones for $219. includes shipping. Still steep. Need fan again, since my b-head mechanic failed to realize the motor mounts caused the first one to get shreaded. Second one did the same thing. Bone yards dried up on parts I need but can get buy with this one until I locate another top piece. The bottom piece is loose too. So I won't know what I need until I pull out the radiator again. Uggg. 97K miles and many new and used parts. I will have cat converter checked out. New plugs, wires, etc were installed last 6 months. Will check fuel filter. Has rebuilt automatic transmission and remanufactured computer. New 4 wheel disc brakes. Paint is good but will need a new paint job to make beautiful. Top works and no leaks. Original top and liner has no holes. Right door panel pulling apart. Plastic door inserts are loose (broken at the screw) Common everyday stuff. Want to locate door panels for coupe so I can relocate the front seat belts. Needs new seat covers (front) Nobody ever sits on the back seat. Not interested in selling it now or ever. I wanted to vent my frustration over the dark side of keeping a sharp, rare, and road hugging sports car on the road for as long as I live or for as long as I have money to keep fixing it. Thanks for the love and well wishes. I too am a fool hardy dope with a penchant for the sublime, subtle lines of this classic roadster. Matt
