reving the ka: how high is to high?

i have a stock 100k mile ka with an auto. i was told the ka was not a high reving engine. how high is too high?

if i floor it in drive, it shifts itself at 5500-6000, should i not go this high? or are ppl talking about 7-8k is to high?

Just trust your factory redline if you really wanna be safe try to always stay a few hundred rpm's shy of it. If you are boosting a stock motor you may want to even stay a little more shy.

no, it's fine. people say it's not a high-revving engine 'cause the power drops off significantly at like 6k

Well the tach starts to redline around 6K but it does go to 8K (which i wouldn't recommend anyone to shift at lol). Normally it kicks itself off though before hand.

but then again u have an auto. i hope u change the fluid in that thing more often than recommended.

i alwauys go by 1k off of the redline

I never go above 5k, but that's cuz I've got really low compression and don't wanna screw something up. I have a knack for doing that lately...

i just got the car a few months ago and had all fluids changed and full tune-up. the auto is still pretty firm when changing from 1st to 2nd when its cold though. its going to be my daily driver, but it will definately see some 'spirited' driving.

i never take it out of drive so 6k is as high as it will go, sounds like thats fine from you guys.
