Recently picked put a set of Federal ss595 for my watanabes. First impressions was that it was cheap. and i know everyone on here is looking for a good deal. picked all four up for 300. Tread wear is 260. took it out last night for a test run. Road noise was very minimal. I can't really say anything for comfort because we don't have the best roads here in socal and also i'm running on stance coilovers with 9k/7k springs. went to a local canyon for some spirit driving and car seemed very confident and grippy. took a friend for a ride and pushed it on the on ramp and turns and he said my car felt like it stuck as if it was on tracks. overall i'm impressed and recommend it to everyone. got my set from http://www.frsport.com

Thanks for the review. Yokota brought them to my attention and I have been eyeballing them since. I am going to pick up a set, but I need to find out if I am relocating soon or not. BTW, what size wheels and tires are you running?

Hey Tam, I was there when u picked up the tires, haha. Was so hungry and busy w/ other things I didn't stop to talk, sorry .

Anyway, take that **** to the track man . AutoX July 7th. See what they can really do.

Absolutely best bang for the buck tire out there right now.

i'm running 16x7 20 something offset and 16x8 20something offset. unfortunelatly they didn't have many sizes for 16 so i'm running 215/55/16 all around. makes the wheels looke more agressive in a way.

I picked up a set of these for my wheels a few months back from frsport.com too. I believe i got all 4 wheels shipped to my house for about $350 shipped i think. As everyone pretty much said, they really are the best bang for the buck.

So far, my tires have gone through 1 full day at the track (~2 1/2 hours on course) and 2 autox events. So far, the tires have held up perfectly and i have no complaints about them. They still look barely used so far. They stick great to the road and work in both wet and dry weather. I live in seattle and can honestly say that they can handle the rain w/ no problems. Oh yeah, just thought id mention, at the track event it started to rain alittle and the tires kept me planted to the road w/o any problems even when flying down the straight away at over 100+ mph =).

Get the tires from frsport.com cause they offer great prices and fast shipping. I'll probably be ordering more tires from them in the future!

I've heard nothing but great things about federal tires.

However.... a 260 TR rating

Those things will be gone in no time. I usually try and pick a tire that is at least 340.

the tread wear ratings vary from brand to brand. so a 200 tw for azenis isn't the same as federals

OK... the real question is...

when did Nismo and Honda (Type R) start making stuff for Evos?

Tam? Can you answer?

If that's true then how are you supposed to rate tires then, I highly doubt that every tire company posts treadwear graphs to distinguish what their rating actually means.

Just do a search on Google. He's telling you the truth. 200 treadwear in one manufacturer doesn't mean 200 treadwear in another manufacturer. It is only usable for comparing relative wear among tires w/in the same company.

There's actually a whole bunch of little side issues on treadwear, why some people choose certain numbers, etc.

As for the Federal's low treadwear. They've lasted AMAZINGLY long for such a sticky tire w/ the # of events most people put on them.

If you are looking for a purely daily driving tire, obviously these wouldn't be it... but neither will any other performance tire if that is the case.

Yeah, thats the col part, my Azenis RT-615 have lasted me 30k(!!) miles of daily street driving (and I drive the bejeezus out of my civic) and the front tires (equivalent to rears on 240SX) have 30-35% left of tread. Still, I have yet to see ANY tire grab as hard for the money. I mean they are fantastic. They max out my non stock (albeit non too stiff) aftermarket springs and sways.Bear in mind Azenis are rated as 200 by Falken. They just don't wear! And the wet handlin is even more impressive!

If the federals are any similar, I'd buy them next, as Azenis are more expensive, and are a BIT*H to put on, it takes most places like 40 mins per tire to pop the stiff sidewall.... and they get mad and charge extra....

You are the first I've heard of to have the tires last that long.

My friend has a eg civic hatch, even w/ tire rotation, his only last 15k max. stock suspension, normal alignment, and only a couple events here & there, but lots of spirited driving.

Good job on getting them 30k.

Yeah, for some reason smaller tires are a ***** to bead, but I did my friend's 17s and they beaded super easy.
