The 2023 Nissan Ariya Is a Premium Electric Crossover

The all-new 2023 Nissan Ariya is arriving to high expectations. Following a decade of delayed development, controversy, and Nissan’s former leadership in EVs long gone, the Ariya has a lot to live up to. Just a decade ago, Nissan’s brand was synonymous with electrification when it launched the Leaf in 2011. For years, Nissan led the pack. Over half a million Leaf’s were sold globally by 2021. However, EVs from Tesla, Korean automakers and even General Motors eventually surpassed the Leaf’s market share in America as the 2010s came to a close.

Today, competition in the electric crossover segment is even more fierce. Will the 2023 Nissan Ariya’s pricing act as a deterrent, or will the progressive design language and decent range drive sales? Can Nissan reclaim their former electric glory? Let’s dive into what this much-anticipated electric crossover will have to offer.

Review continues here.

Is it me or does that "review" seem like it was written by the Nissan marketing department?

Probably was, deliveries have been postponed till autumn because of the chip shortage. Except for factory protos, I doubt there are any to drive.

I'll just say this, electric motors and traction control were made for one another and I can't wait to drive an AWD Platinum. That car is gonna rock.

Motor Trend has a decent "first look" article, I think that's as close as you'll get for right now.

2023 Nissan Ariya all-electric crossover: The best of Nissan design, technology, performance and sustainability for a new era

The all-new 2023 Nissan Ariya, Nissan's first all-electric crossover SUV, offers powerful acceleration and smooth, quiet operation, and, with an estimated range of up to approximately 300 miles1 for the Venture+ model, Ariya is the perfect partner for daily commutes and road trips alike.

Ariya is a cornerstone to the Nissan NEXT global transformation plan and is the first production model to represent the company's new electrified brand identity, forging a path toward a new automotive era where electrification, optimized platform packaging and seamless vehicle technology are standard. Its advanced driver-assistance features, concierge-like assistance and seamless connectivity heightens on-road confidence and provides a welcoming environment for the driver and passengers.

The all-new Ariya also builds on Nissan's strength as an EV pioneer and innovator, starting off with the groundbreaking Nissan LEAF, which, since its introduction more than a decade ago, has racked up global sales of more than 550,000 vehicles2.

Four Nissan Ariya models will initially be available, each equipped with an advanced liquid-cooled 87 kWh Lithium-Ion battery (usable battery capacity), CCS quick charge port, available ProPILOT Assist 2.03, wireless Apple CarPlay® and wired Android Auto, a lounge-like premium interior and Nissan Safety Shield® 360. Additional models will be available at a later date.

Additionally, the first 10,000 reservations made before Jan. 31, 2022 will qualify for a two year free EVgo membership plus $500 in charging credits upon purchase4. That's worth up to an estimated 5,000 miles of EV driving for Ariya Venture.
