So i finally made a decision to purchase the mounts from ebay. They just came out with a new revision to the mounts and a different trans mount. I like the idea of the solid isolators.

Quality is damn nice. Beefy and have good weight. Very solid in construction and the welds look very nice. I got what is shown exactly in the picture.

so far i'm content with my choice. When i go to install i'll get pics.

mack i just pulled out all the parts and the only 2 things i see similar are the isolators(solid aluminum) and trans mount. The actual engine mount are semi similar. Your kit does not come with the engine stand arms(i have no idea what to refer to them as).

Go into detail mack. Only reason i bought them was to try out a different competitor. I do value your engine mounts and driveshaft. Been holding up since 2004 but the rubber isolators were a easily worn part.

looks to be a knock off of Mack's work. Just check out the flanges, easily seen that it was a dub. The engine side brackets are just replicating the oe parts where by the looks of it, wouldn't need them either way if you had the originals... just an observation.

Mack, look into it.

Since Mack's lawyers are taking care of it, I am guessing they are patented. What is this stop bit^hin crap your talking about? They are his design and product, he has every right in the world to let the RB community know that they are direct ripoffs. I have never seen this supplier on this site offering customer service either.

I have two different points of view on situations like this. The first being that steeling a design from another company is wrong whether the original company has a patent or not. It shows a low moral standard. It also causes companies that have worked hard to supply products in a niche market to go out of business. The end result being that enthusiast loose because that business is no longer willing or around to supply new parts.

The other point of view is that when a company has a niche item in a limited market they need to be very careful with their price points. While things like intakes, ecu's, and equal length exhaust manifolds take a lot of time and money to R&D mounts are pretty cut and dry. They don't need dyno time or to be put on a flow bench. There are a lot of mount kits out to put a lot of different motors in different models and the McKinney mounts are considerably more than most of them. When competition arises with a price point that is closer to the range of what people are paying for non-RB mounts can you blame them for wanting to save some money.

Patent or not, that is theft. Straight up. The seller is stealing the R&D that went into the design of the product. Any jackas$ can drill some holes in steel plate and weld it together.

If you are going to use someone else's design as a baseline, at least improve upon it for god's sake...

I hate when people steal someone's design. That's my biggest fear of marketing my carbon parts. I've spent over 100+ hours on the finishing of them so far.Mack, show them what happens to people who buy copies of hand made products. Also, how did you go about getting your patents?

i think your in the clear. most of that time goes into making the form. i make carbon fiber parts to but if there is something already out i need i just buy it. its cheaper. now if you want to let me barrow some of your forms,,,,,

So, I finally got around to installing the engine mounts years later. here are the pics. I have not drilled the bottom bolt to the cross member yet and also have not test fitted the trans mount.

Image
had to pop 1/2in holes
Image
had to open the holes 1/8 in longer.
