Racingline Rear Endlinks on my 3.5SE 2008 Altima coupe
Tutorial:
you need- TWO 2-ton jackstands- ONE Cheapo jack from the trunk- ONE ratchet with a 17mm socket- ONE 17mm wrench- ONE 19mm wrench OR locking pliers (I used the locking pliers)
first you are going to need to jack the car up.
hjacking points:
You take your cheapo jack from the trunk of the car underneath floor carpeting and at the left of the tire. you take the TWO pieces, the arm and the jack, and you assemble them. now you jack the car up! YAY!
In the process of jacking the car up
you put your jackstand while the car is still on the jack and then you lowerback the car on the jackstand.
Repeat for the other side
YOU NEED TO HAVE BOTH SIDES JACKED UP TO UNLOAD PRESSURE ON THE SWAY BAR!
Ok, now that the car is jacked up here is what you can see from behind it underneath:
we can see the endlink
closer:
the other side (front) of the endlink:
Now the fun part begins, take your 19mm wrench OR locking pliers to hold the endlink-side part of the endlink bolt in place so you can unscrew the nut in the other end with the 17mm RATCHET or with a 5/8 wrench (much better with the ratchet).
you repeat the same thing with the upper part of the endlink (assuming you did the bottom first). Remove the endlink after you unscrew the bottom and upper nuts. Don't worry nothing will fall of or come down on you.
no hands!
the little rusted mofo is out!
here they are side to side
Now its the easy part. You take the endlink and you unscrew the two nuts in the bottom and the top + the metal O-ringand then you put it in the OEM endlink's place
take your 17mm wrench to hold the endlink-side part of the endlink's bolt in place and then srew the nut in the other end with the 17mm ratchet. Screw it until you can't no more. The rubber bushings will be completely squished lol, thats normal. Now add the second nut for extra safety measures.
repeat for the bottom and your done with that endlink. yay!
tada!
repeat the exact same procedure for the other side of the car
Driving impression:
All I can say is WOW .Didn't expect this at all. keep in mind that I haven't even lowered my ride yet. Right after installing it I went to drive my GF back home. Notice how when you corner aggressively, the 3.5SE has a tendency to wiggle its butt in the corners slightly. GONE. And how we could take the corner pretty fast. FASTER, WAY FASTER. Before, I would take a corner and there would be this slight...delay with the back to adjust to my angle, noting serious, just a tiny delay like if you were getting close to the limit of the suspension. MF GONE!!The back of the car is much more leveled and reacts OH SO FAST to my killer rice driving style now that the endlinks made my sway bar suppa TIGHT. The OEM sway bar's effect seems to have been improved a lot with the endlink. It's active WAY faster when I take corners and twisties. This is what my GF said about the ride quality: "I dunno...seems the same to me. Stop going so fast!" which translates to , NON PERCEPTIBLE RIDE QUALITY CHANGES!
Now, I can't wait to put my springs on, it's going to be even better!
I hope Racingline gets the front endlinks back in stock, because I can't wait to test those out!
can you feel the excitement yet?
