My 1995 (66000-miles) Nissan Altima suddenly experienced a problem only when the car is placed in Reverse, but going Forward is OK. It does not seem to have enough power from the engine to drive the car backward. The car sometimes just sits still with the engine revving at high speed as if the car is in Neutral, especially when the parking space is sloping downward a little. In most cases, the car moves very very slowly with the engine revving at high speed. Is this prolem caused by a bad Reverse Transmission Gear or is the Reverse Transmission Gear somehow not engaged correctly and caused the gear to slip?Thank you so much for your help.
