Reverse Switch

right now my car is sitting for the winter but i have to get it inspected before i take it out in spring. My reverse light flashes on when i move the shifter to reverse but once engaged, flashes off. Is this probably the reverse switch? if it is do i need to replace it or is there another way (my roommate told me to throw some washers on it)?

just replace it, i did mine when i got my car, its like 15 dollars and takes like 5 seconds to do, but you will loose some fluid, just make it quick and you shouldnt loose more then an ounce
