Just a suggestion, try rolling forward a foot or two and slipping it into reverse as the synchros line up. I find i have to do this a lot on my 13 year old transmission.

Can you get it in with the car shut off? What happens if you start it in reverse?

~ tried to shift into reverse when off : NO dice~ Tried to push it back from my parking spot about 5-6 feet and put it in 1st for about 3 feet and threw it in Reverse: No DICE~tried on a hill to roll forward, and then throw into reverse: No Dice~cant seem to get it to go in at all as if there was some kind of block or obstruction preventing me from getting into reverse.TIA

Do 240's have a reverse lock out? I would check that. If it isn't that you will have to tear into the transmission.

well ill im you but your not responding, what exactly will i need to replace if i were to tear the transmission apart? i was told shift linkage but the KA transmission doesnt treally have one, then i was told Fork but then since i can still shift through 1st to 5th i was told that wasn't either, so what exactly will i need to replace?oh yeah i was also told Reverse do not have syncros so there is no way those could be stripped.

maybe its the shifter itself.. somtimes, with t-birds atleast, the shifetr will break somewhere and 1 or more gears will seem like there is something blocking it, just a thought. and your right rev shares a sleeve with 5th gear, no seperate syncro

You should be able to find a cheap transmission from someone who put an SR or RB in their vehicle.

bmx ruler did you have them explain exactly why your transmission needed to be built or did you just agree to the 1200 dollar bill. If they did explain can you please tell us what happened

Iam guessing his syncros are warped, kinda what iam thinking gappend to mine. today i was at a stop light and all gears got locked up for like 8 secs and i just drove ir back home. also i oulled the console and stuff around the shifter now iam down to the shifter itself, how would you know if you need new trans fluid? i also hear this like vacum noise i was like huh? so any help would be cool.

the shop told me it was average cost to rebuild was about 1200 depending, but that was an "average" price. he didnt know exactly what the prolbem was, and to find out the transmission had to be taken apart he said. but ive talked to some people and said it might be the slave cilender.

but anyway i didnt have the guy take it part because i didnt have them money .

Slave cylinder would affect all gears. If only one gear won't work it is some sort of internal problem.

well all my gears are starting to go kind of a lock out thing. But i think a new transmission is order, becuase it feels slugish and i hear this sucking noise when clucth isn't in from the shifter. iam assuming thats that noise peopel are talking about when the pilot bushing goes out. anyone know how much a Throwout bearing and pilot bushing go around for at a dealership? But could this actually be a slave cylinder problem? also i hear a clicking noise from 1st-3rd.any input would be great seeing as how its about 2 weeks before i put in that 200k transmission in..

Sounds like the reverse gear assembly. I've never actually been inside a ka transmission so I couldn't speak with much wisdom on it though. :pface

Stock S-13, Did you ever get this figured out, mine is doing the same thing! All forward gears work fine just won't go in reverse.

is your shift lever sloppy? has alot of play? if so pull the shifter out and see if the bottom of it is there. I posted exactly how to get the shifter out in another post let me see if i can find it.
