reverse reverse!!! problem with lights

i just got my 240 back from the mechanic and they swapped a 97-98 engine into my 89 (ka motor). but when i went to get it inspected the reverse lights didn't turn on and the left rear light turns off when you step on the brake when the head lights are on. any idea how to fix this. or even how much since i don't have the time to work on my car since i'm going on deployment( my wife needs the car)
