What year S13 hatch do you have? You might want to also repost this in the Mechanical thread under NICO FORUMS. I hear there's some Nissan Master techs that roam it...but it may be a myth:)Without looking into a FSM or Mitchell, some things that come to mind are fuses/fusible links/reverse switch/wiring connections/wires themselves. Basically let us know what year you've got...and also how did the light sockets look? Has the car been hit or been in an accident? ANything come to mind that could help us help you figure this out? In a nutshell....MORE INFO!

the 2 wires have frobably frayed near the shifter where the microswitch that activates them is.

there is a dedicated fuse for the reverse lights, so that could be it, it could also be the switch on the transmission that activates them, but I'd check the fuses first,

Or you could check the ground wire for them on the light sockets. My old s13 had loose ground wires on the lights in the back, caused many problems. I still see a good bit of 240's, or older nissans for that matter, with the same problem. Atleast what appears to be the same problem.
