Reverse lights come on in 5th gear

As the title states. My reverse lights come on when I go into 5th gear and not when I go into reverse.

Anyone ever have this problem or any insight on how to correct it?

Someone could have plugged the reverse lights into the 5th gear switch, and vice versa.

Can you hit the speed limiter in 5th?

I'll get under the car tomorrow and check it out. I'm pretty sure that's what happened.
