Reverse gear pop out

I just bought an s13 with an rb20 swap and am now having the trans pop out of gear while in reverse. It goes in gear just fine but when I start letting out the clutch the car will move maybe a foot, then pop out of gear. It is only reverse.

Has anyone had similar issues before? Any ideas?

i know if the shifter hole is off, ie not cnetered, the shifter can hit/rest on the edge and not fully engage. i'd check that, it should be pretty easy to atleast.
