Rev when starting / charging issue

I have a '92 240sx se W/ hicas

---Everytime is start my car, i have to rev the motor to 2500rpm...otherwise the battery will die after running for a short time.

I have a new battery, 8mo old starter, new + and - battery cables....and just had the alternator tested!

1. on the alternator test...it read 0 amps if i didnt rev the engine.2. After reving the engine it read perfect..no falloff at all!

i drive the car all over and never has any problems if i rev it upon starting it...so im leaning awayfrom it bein the alternator.

----VOLTAGE REGULATOR maybe????

Im at a loss with this thing.... any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!

sounds like you're on the right track. If you're going to get the alternator tested, might want to have the battery tested as well. You'd be surprised to see how many bad new batteries I've seen in my day.

ya i had the battery tested same time as the alt and it showed up as being fine....sorry forgot to mention that!
