yeah, there's a limiter, but the qr motor has to be built uo with rods and pistons plus cams and springs if you want to raise it.

yes theres a rev limiter but the computer has a redline blocker so if u just rev it all the way up it stays at a certain point...if u want to see it go past the revblocker(which i suggest u dont, casue bad things could happen) drive it in third gear at like 5,500 rpm then down shift it to 2nd...lol my bros gf did that to his when she was learning to drive stick and she miss shifted and threw it into 2nd instead of 4th. he got so pissed and scared...lol

I can't see myself taking that well at all but I wondered because I hit once and it kind of freaked me out. The other guy was saying that you had to do the motor and I do not think that will get it higher you need a chip. I just wondered if it was comouter or mecanical

Overrevving a QR would be a bad idea.

Regardless, there's no bypass for the electronic cut off.

this is true. even if you use the Techno square reflash to bump the redline its still not a good idea unless you get aftermarket cams and cam springs and EVEN THEN your redline is gonna be something like 6,500-6,800 ish. Unfortunately the QR engine is a truck engine that has a long stroke not mean for Hi-revving applications. i have seen an "SQR" frankenstien build that took the crank of an SR20 and i believe after market rods and pistons for boost application, it was also destroked to like 2.3l. i dont remember the redline. here is the link

its the same guy who did the first VQ swap.

The SQR23DET revs into the 9000rpm area AND is boosted AND uses the QR 6spd, something like 140mph in 4th gear. Absolutely insane.

The QR was not built as a truck engine specifically. They do use it at the base engine for the Frontier, but there's no doubt that it's purpose wasn't just for that given that it's in the SE-R and the base Altima.

However, the things that make it so torquey (and therefore, good in the Frontier) also make it very unique in the sport compact world, and some say it's a flaw.

I wonder how the new QR in the B16 will hold up. I hope it has better luck than the old one.
