in gear 4 and 5 the limiter kicks in around 5000. They did this to limit your top speed to around 120.

there are ways to trick it by cutting wires and such, but u might lose your speedometer. the only way to fix it that i recommend is a reprogrammed ECU or one of those little computers that u hook up between the ecu and the sensors that tricks your ecu into thinking its at a diff rpm.
The revlimiter is always the same place. There is a speed limiter. That is why the car shuts down at those speeds. It has nothing to do with where the tach is, it's where the speedo is. I know it's technical, and theoretically the same concept, but just realize that the ECU is watching speed *and* rpm, not just rpm.
