As you all know, the S13 rev limitor is around 6800 RPM. When I stand still and rev up my motor, my RPM goes to redline (6800 RPM). When I drive it, it cut me off at 5000 RPM, first through 5th gear, so what the hell?

Can someone help me with this? Thanks.

rev limiter is set at 6800 in gears less than 4 and in nuetral.

in gear 4 and 5 the limiter kicks in around 5000. They did this to limit your top speed to around 120.

THIS IS NORMAL.

there are ways to trick it by cutting wires and such, but u might lose your speedometer. the only way to fix it that i recommend is a reprogrammed ECU or one of those little computers that u hook up between the ecu and the sensors that tricks your ecu into thinking its at a diff rpm.

well, i don't know about this, but redline at 5000 in first few gears is not normal at all so in this case, p00t, not it, but thanks though.

The revlimiter is always the same place. There is a speed limiter. That is why the car shuts down at those speeds. It has nothing to do with where the tach is, it's where the speedo is. I know it's technical, and theoretically the same concept, but just realize that the ECU is watching speed *and* rpm, not just rpm.
