Rev Limiter on a 93 240sx??? 5500 rpm??? True or NOT?

i was just checking out the 1993 240sx today and i was just taking the guys car for a spin. tried to redline it but it wouldnt let me pass 5500 rpm?

is there a rev limiter on a 1993 240sx?? is there anyway to get rid of that limit?? and does anyone konw where to get this fixed?? i wanan get the car ..but not sure how i can by pass this problem?

anyone on the fourm h ave the same thing? please share your experiences!

you must have had it in 5th gear when you rev'd the engine, in any other gear and neutral it limits later

I [accidentally] revved my 93 to around 7000 or so.

Yeah, i've been above 6000ish a few times in my 89. No rev limiter that low that i know of. It could be a problem with the engine/transmission.

I have heard about this before. I did a search on it and couldnt find the info on it.

If your having the problems in 5th gear make sure your not bumping off the speed governor.

I have a 92 240sx and it governs out at 5500rpm in 5th...

I had this exact problem a while ago...Your ECU is in Emergency mode or something like that. Let me guess when you are in neutral and try to rev high it will go to 5500 kick off until about 4000 then it will let you rev again? I had to get a new MAFS and reset my ecu for it to go away! Go to a junk yard and see how much they want to a new sensore or see what ebay has to offer. I paid $15 for my used one and it still hasn't failed me!
