Rev limiter kicking in

My rev limiter keeps kicking in on and off, even during normal driving at about 60mph+. Anyone have any helpful hints to trouble shoot this?

Be more specific..unless your in 2nd gear I don't see why the rev limiter would be acting this way...What year car, how many miles, etc, wrecks? Any mods?More specific on what happens...fuel cut sound change?

its an 89 coupe. pretty much stock w/ after market clutch. the rev limiter kicks in when it wants to (45+mph). Still don't know why, even if the car is being driven normal the rev limiter still kicks in mostly with high speeds. I don't know if i'm missing an sensor or if my ECU is fried.
