rev limiter after some transmission work

howdy again all. i recently had my transmission on my '92 240 worked on for some syncro problems i was having. after i got my car back (and after a week or so of taking it easy) i take it out for a little speed run. to my surprise i couldn't take the car above 5000 rpms in any gear. but in neutral i can take it as high as i want. i know that they wired the transmission a little wrong (my reverse lights come on while in 4th) but would any of the work they did affect the rev limiter. if no what would be the next step on my end to deal with this because im tired of having only half of the cars real power. thanks in advanced
