Car: spending too much money on my cars.

Post

I have a 95 sr20det blktop with automatic transmission. I started having a problem in first gear. If I roll on the gas my tires break loose and start spinning . Well this is fun an all but my car revs so quickly with the tires spinning that the auto transmission cant keep up. The engine revs to around 7100-7200 and the misses once before the transmission shifts. Kinda sux. Do you manual guys have this problem. I mean if my auto spins the tires. You manual guys must bounce off the rev limiter all the time. I'm not even at WOT and I have this problem. I don't know for sure if it's the limiter i'm hitting or a high rpm miss. If I don't spin the tires the transmission will shift out of first gear around 6800rpm. I'm running my sparkplug gap around .025. Is the rev limiter on the sr's 7200rpm?

it appears as 7200 on s14's.

gap your plugs to .28, see if that fixes it.

I had my plugs gapped to .28 and was experiencing a slight miss under hard accel. in the upper rpm range at irregular times. I lowered the gap and the miss disappeared. Maybe it's time for new plugs.
