I searched for a bit and couldn't find this exact problem..

My car is auto -> Manual swap. With s13 exhause cams on a 95 s14 rebuilt engine.

This has only happend to me twice since I have owned the car for 2 months. It hits 5k and bounces off it like a rev limit. It seems to be only when it is really damp/wet outside. This happend to me on saturday, then on sunday it was fine.. It actually reved a lil past 7k rpms.

So, I don't understand why this happens randomly.

It has Cold Air Intake/Header/Exhaust and new o2 sensor. So, Any ideas?

This might not help but see if whoever you bought it from put a rev resticter or limiter on it they mess up setan models

It almost sounds like the moisture is shorting the connector for the fifth gear sensor. I think the ecu imposes a rev limit around 5k in fifth gear. I'm not sure if that's even possible or not...

Of course, you really don't drive that hard in the rain very often, right?

Actually I drive very hard in the rain because its fun, easy to control, and I don't burn that much rubber.

That idea does make some sense, but to the first poster.. It doesn't happen all the time.. Its only happend 2 days out of 60

5th should have the 5k limit on it. If the 5th gear sensor is tripped then it could be doin it like Benemorius pointed out.

ok um id like to know where you get the better control in the rain idea.....if you want to have a car that can rev in the first place you might wanna slow down in the rain and save your super JDM skillz for tha track ya heard?

Well, let me explain then. I have better control in the rain because I don't have to carry NEARLY as much speed to get her sideways and drifting. Also a plus is less rubber burnt. I do it around my neighborhood, not many cars, wide roads and flat asphalt. Also another reason why I don't have any issue in the rain is because i live in NY all the way out in the hamptons so when it snows, it stays on the ground for a long time cuz snow removal sucks out here. If I can handle the car on the snow no problem..Sure it gets slippery and she starts to move around sometimes but I never lose control, so the rain is just that much easier.

Take it easy guys.. You're telling me none of you have a lil fun on the street? You only **** around at the track? If so do you live right next to the track and is it free for you? Sorry I can't take it to the track 7 days a week.

Now that, that is out of the way. I'm still stumped on what this problem could be.. I am going to check out the sensors on the weekend, but just looking for more suggestions.

You'll regret that one time a little kid or their mom or dad, or an uncle, aunt, whoever they may be uknowingly wonders out there and you see them as your sliding around but it's already too late because you can't stop the car from sliding in the rain. Your going slower than in the dry but still out of control, so it makes it look like a movie scene as you slowly and helplessly careen in to that innocent person. Then you feel like complete **** because you know you shouldn't have been f'ing around on public streets in the first place, and there's nothing you can do or say to the cops that will be cuffing you for vehicular manslaughter.

Do I do it in public area's? Yes, but not anywhere near my neighborhood. My piece of advice, first of all, is don't be so arrogant about what your doing. If you want to do it in the public, just take it to a vacant parking lot very far out where everything is very clear and visible so others can see you, and you can see them from a far distance and be VERY damn careful. That's a 2500 pound fast moving object your sliding around with limited visibility and low stopping power your sliding around.

I don't understand how I'm being arrogant. but you obviously don't live where I do. There aren't any sidewalks... People dont walk around the streets. Ppl drive or walk on the main rd. So the only thing I have to worry about hitting are animals and other cars, but obviously i make sure there aren't any cars near me.

I really should have said ignorant*. People make mistakes no matter who you are, it's inevitable and it's stupid not to realise that. I'm just suggesting making sure you don't hurt anyone or yourself when you do make that mistake. That's why it's best to do it on a track.
