Retuning ECU after mods?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

Hi Guys

I've done a couple of casual mods to my 97 KA24DE.

I have an Injen Short Ram, DC Sports Header, 2.25 cat back.

I've read a few times about "retuning" the ECU after some mods. Can anyone provide more information regarding this? Products? approx price?

you should always reset the ecu after upgrades. You can get an afc , stand alone, or a consult. Your mods dont really need any of this unless you'd like every possible pony from them. To reset your ecu unplug neg then pos for an hour or so. See if that helps get a few of those upgrades noticed by the ecu.

are you suggesting to remove my battery connections for an hour?

I'm assuming you're referring to the positive and negative terminals?

you do not need to leave them off. just unplug the negative and cycle the key from off to start a few times.

You could get an ecu tune. The modifications that you have added have increased your scavanging. Meaning that flow is much more effecient at cam overlap than it would be at stock. So technically you would want to bump up the ignition timing a tad, and possibly a little more fuel in higher RPM.

bumping up ignition timing, I assume you mean advancing.

Any links/posts/pages you could provide to me please.

My car is a daily driver - even in the winter...I just want it 'better than stock'
