After a few days of research on Retrofitting TSX/s2000 projectors onto my s14 headlights(zenki), I couldn't find an exact solution. My problem is that i will be getting tsx projectors in a few weeks and is wanting to know if i can take the more simple route. This simple route is instead of building a custom hid kit(piece together factory ballast, igniter, bulb), wouldn't it be much easier to buy+install an aftermarket HID conversion kit. Would this type of build(tsx ballast +a good set of aftermarket HID Conversion kit) give me the same OEM HID quality? As you could tell, i'm a novice with lights...oh ya could someone tell me if i'm getting the right parts?

If taking the custom route:1)TSX projectors2)ballast D2S/D2R + igniter, D2S bulbs

If taking the easy route:1) TSX projectors2)HID conversion kit D2S/D2R

SPECIAL CASE: Would a 2003 Maxima OEM HID kit be able to retrofit into the TSX projectors?FYI--> maxima bulbs are D2R

Hope i can get some quick replies, I thank you in advance

Here some research i did, but not specific enough...like the relay part numberhttp://www.phihoang.com/s14hid.htm

Yes, you can retrofit tsx projectors with those cheaper ebay hid kits. I did it on my Rsx, and it worked awsome and looked really good. I had the 6000k light output bulbs and ballasts. It was hard to get the projectors to align, but I did my best, and it was lined up close enough for me. Some people on the retrofit forums were flaming but who gives a ****, it wasent blinding people like those headlight that just have the hid kit installed in them without the projectors.

Here is my thread of my build on my rsx, BUT I will be doing something similar to my 240sx vert

ohh and to answer you questions

Would this type of build(tsx ballast +a good set of aftermarket HID Conversion kit) give me the same OEM HID quality?

Yes and No, because most aftermarket hid kits don't come 4300K which is STOCK for most car manufaturers. 4300k is the brightest, almost like sunlight, than you can get into 5000, 6000k, which is slightly blue, than 8000, 12000K which are hues of purple, so remember the higher the number goes the less bright it is. Also oem ballasts last way longer than cheap aftermarket ones. I suggest goin with what fits your budget.

and to answer your 2nd question

...oh ya could someone tell me if i'm getting the right parts?

yes, both of those options would work, but the oem hid quality is better, meaning it lasts longer, thats just personal choice, if you can get your hands on a oem hid kit than by all means, but those cheaper kits are ok as well, atleast from my experience.

Would a 2003 Maxima OEM HID kit be able to retrofit into the TSX projectors?FYI--> maxima bulbs are D2R

"Most" hid bulbs are D2S, and the TSX projectors take D2S aswell. I'm not a 100% sure but it could fit, and you wouldn't have to customize it. Hopefully

Dude your a life saver man, you've provided really good info on the hid retrofit. Also your rsx looks really good with the projector+hid kit, but i don't know why people be hating on you though. From what i could see, the alignment is just a little bit off, but then the cut of is good enough and there isn't any glare. Anyways i'll probably do the retrofit projector and the oem ballast+bulb, so i hope you could assist me if i run into any installation problem bro. Thanks
