It looks like the time has come for me to put the Z away. I have a 1990 NA Z32 and I lent it to a younger (19) friend last friday for the night for an "end of school" date. The next morning he called me and told me it was sputtering on the highway and when he got it to a parking lot it died. When I looked at it the engine bay and hood were full of what looks like oil residue. When I turned the key I hear the starter click and nothing else happens; just silence. I did notice there were lots of tire marks all over the empty parking lot. :tisk:

Just joking. My Z still runs like a top and I dont have any friends. But I am retiring it to save gas and prevent the possibility of a future accident. The JDM engine has 110K but the body has 230K and its time to let her rest. I also cant afford replacement parts. What procedures to I do to keep a Z in cold storage?

Stainless steel wool in the intake and exhaust. Make sure it can't be easily picked out by rodents. How long are we talking here? There's a myriad of things we could suggest, based on timeframe.

Well, maybe it wont be completely cold storage. I may take it for a short loop around town once a month. But I live in an apartment so I have no garage to keep it from the elements. It has no battery so that makes it a little less likely for people to hotwire it. But what do I have to do to protect it from the Arkansas summer and do i have to run it up every now and then?

Just get a padded car cover in that case.
