First of all I just wanna say that I've had to rejoin NICO after a year or inactivity...
Okay, here's my problem... I'm doing my s13's timing chain and oil pump right now. The other morning i was leaving my neighborhood and heard an awful noise coming out of the motor. I topped it off with oil - it was a quart low - and noticed that the oil light was on when I made a turn or let it idle. Give it a rev, and it goes away...
Well the noise turned out to be the top cam chain cover had SNAPPED OFF and was laying pinched in between the chain and the valve cover getting eaten. My guess was that the pump ate enough fillings that it needs to be replaced. I knew I needed a timing chain replacement, so I'm doing it all at once.
I've got the top cover, belts, fan shroud, fans, transmission gussets, water pump, thermostat housing, etc all off. But I've managed to strip the head off one of the two bolts holding the pan to the block, between the block and the bellhousing. Now I'm scared that the bolt extractor won't work (they never seem to for me) or that I wont be able to do anything other than drill it and retap. If I can at least drill the head on it I won't have to seperate the transmission from the block to get in there to tap it. I have no idea what size tap I'll need, but I managed to buy a set without it, as none of the dies fit the bolts. The FSM isn't any help, and I've searched. DOES ANYONE KNOW THE BOLT/THREAD SIZE???
Oh please oh please ohpleaseohpleaseohplz I'm screwed...
