I might be trading with a guy who has a rb20det ... I would like to know this also as he said the mounts wouldn't allow the A/C to be used... however i am a girly man and like my A/C haha

I'm working on it.

I'm trying to do it with rb compressor, custom lines, and ka everything else.

I don't think the wiring will be bad. As far as I can tell, I have the AC Relay to wire, and the ambient switch.

i tried using a ka compressor of a DOHC and it bolted right up. All the holes line up you just need to put spacers inbetween the top two bolts because theres a decent space.

FYI this is using the ka compressor holder thing.

then all ya need is lines that reach an extra 7 inches or whatever it is.

my a/c is as follows, i get power from the a/c relay then to a toggle switch, i have my power wire running through the reciver dryer pressure switch it is a 3 position switch normaly open with 0 system pressure, closed with normal a/c system charge then open with a system overpressure so that is my saftey device.

wow thanks for the replies!

so ka compressor will work with minor mods. just run the a/c switch off the ecu to the compressor and it should work like normal right?

I have A/C in my '92 vert. Used the RB20 compressor and the KA discharge (small) line, but had to carefully bend the hard line to get it in the right position to re-connect to the condenser. I used about a foot of the RB suction side piping and had a connector made to reconnect to the KA suction side piping. Cost me less than $60 for a hydraulics shop to make the compression fit style connector that you can see in the photo. The connector is in the center, directly beneath the blue silicone lines to/from my boost controller solenoid. I have used these style connectors for both SR and RB A/C lines and never had a problem or a leak. I also converted to R134A so I added the R134A fittings. I wired mine using the KA compressor signal wire and didn't worry about the RB compressor pressure switch wiring, since the KA dual pressure switch remains functional to kill the compressor on 1) high pressure, or 2) low pressure (loss of freon/oil).
