Is there a setting for my '06 M35 to have the option of retained accessory power? That is, when you turn off the ignition, there is still power to the cabin - radio, window controls etc? I have had this in about every car I have owned the last few years and can't believe the beauty doesn't have it.

It should have a retained power option, the windows are supposed to work but the radio and display screen only come on when the button is in the ACC mode.

I think there are other things that still work I will look into it and get back to you.

After some searching through the ESM I found that the retained power is controlled through the BCM and only works for 45sec. as factory default, there are settings to turn it off or set it to work for 2min. All setting cancel operation as soon as one of the front doors are opened.

Do your windows work when the power is off?

One trick I use (that i picked up here on the forums) is that if I'm parking and I know I'm going to be sitting in the car for a bit (i.e., waiting for she who must be obeyed), I turn the car off while it is still in gear. Then it goes straight to ACC mode and I can keep the radio/CD on without the engine running. Once it's in ACC mode I then put the vehicle in Park.

The radio stays on, but the windows will only work for a short time as Steve says, the normal delay period.

I like the "she that shall be obeyed" sums it up perfectly.

Where there is a will there is a way I guess that's a pretty smart idea, the beeping drives me nuts personally. Always with the beeping.
