Wade gave me the tips on this....here's a few pics of the process.

Got a set of 12 spoke Grand Waggy rims for the Xterra build...they were a little crusty when I got them.

Enter the weapons of the trade.

This stuff in particular made the job a lot easier.

It started bubblng the old finish almost right away.

After stripping, lots of scrubbing, wire brushing, and cleaning down with AJAX and then acetone, this is what I ended up with.

Taping these things took forever. Enter unemployed 18 year old daughter.

All taped up and ready for paint!

2 coats of flat black in the slots...

After removing a crap load of masking tape:

3 more light coats of clear over everything and they're ready to go.

Soon. Probably later this month. After thanksgiving the new rear packs go on, as well as the new trans xmember, and the front two skidplates come off in preparation of cutting the IFS out from under the truck.

My axle is fully assembled and I just need to get my steering linkage ordered. Beyond that I have every part all boxed up in the garage ready to go.
