Post

Hey, I just wanted to post up and get some ideas to help me resurrect a Z31 that's been sleeping for at least 9 years now.

The GF's father told me today that his in-laws have an 88 300ZX (NA) in their garage that hasn't been out since the 90's. Apparently they also had a TT Z32 at one point that got written off by the teenage son, but that's another story.

He wants to put the car back on the road this summer, and asked me to basically do it for him, since he's in another province right now.

Where would you guys start?I was thinking that all the fluids should be replaced, rad flush, new plugs, filters, battery, and new gas, just to start. To be honest, I've never left a car longer than a winter, so what other things should I check prior to startup?

Maybe turn the car over a bunch with oil in the cylinders, with the plug wires off, just to get some initial lubrication.

Apparently the clutch is not engauging right now, whereas it was engauging when it was put to sleep. I figure that it might just need to be bled, along with the brakes.

I'd want to replace the pads and rotors anyway, then chase whatever problems that I may run into.

Any input from you guys that have done it all before??

p.s. It's Red, 5 speed, T-bar roof. I don't have any other details right now.

when resurecting a car tahts been sitting for a long time, I like to change allt he fluids, taht includes gas, as well as the spark plugs, and while the plugs are out I like to shoot a little wd40 or similar into each spark plug hold, then I like to rotate the engine withthe plugs out with a wrench for a couple of turns, then you can disconnect the coil and crank it with the key before reinstalling the plugs and crank away, hopefully it fires up

once running you can start to access other parts fo the car, will the car idle and nto get hot? do the lights windows, etc work? got brake pressure? do the brakes hold? then you cna look at the condition fo the rotors and pads
