I had my flywheel resurfaced and then while dremeling out the new pilot bearing a little (which didn't have a big enough center, is this going to be bad?) I nic'd (sp?) the flywheel surface where the disc touches. Is this a big deal, or will it wear off anyways? I'm using a ACT 6-puck disc/cutch.

Thanks,Daniel

it will probobly be fine. are you sure you needed to dremel out the bushing? if the alignment tool fits then id say dont cut it up, it will not likely be as smooth as it should be

ok..

since you dremeled on the pilot bushings, you are gonna have to order a new one. Then go to autozone and rent this tool they have for pilot bushings (looks like a bent pair of pliers), use that to pull the bushing out.

The flywheel is fine tho.

Thanks for the posts. I dremeled out the pilot bushing because it was too small on the inner diameter for the rb20 transmission (long story, came on my rb25 instead of rb25 transmission) input shaft. The pilot bearing is a new one for a 300zx, because the one that ACT sent with my clutch was copper and cracked before it could even be tapped a little into the hole, so I picked up one from Advanced. Anyways, the shaft fits with it being dremeled out and the alignment tool fit decently as well, maybe a tiny bit wobbly but non-the-less.

I'm not familar with the rb installs or anything like that, but I think pilot bushings are supposed to fit like a glove.

The pilot buschin/bearings keep the input shaft both centered and also help keep lateral load off the clutch disc and pressure plate. While these lateral loads won't do much to kill a clutch disc or pressure plate, it can damage the input shaft and/or the input shaft bearing.
