hey i thought i should make notice im resurecting my 240...its going to be called

the ugly duckiling

i was going to sell her because she was overheating after i dumped about 14 k under the hood. im thinkin its overheating because the shop screwed me over and put a crummy ka radiator on it.

Step One: Koyo radiator with new hoses. anyone that reads this has one to sell let me know. ( FIX OVERHEAT ISSUE !! )

Step Two: overfenders for the rear. the previous owner decided to bondo a dent... so im gonna go a little cheap and throw on some overfenders...

Step Three : paint the ***** its been ugly for too long.. im bring the white ness back to the 240..

here are some pictures.engine rebuild ( NICE RODS ! )

so heres a question... cold my overheating problem be as simple as the radiator ?? i know the water pumps working, i know fluid is flowing...i tried the inclined open radiator trick but it didnt help

any other bright ideas? any buddy have another idea instead of overfenders ?

thanks for you time im excited to get back in !!!

Do your neighbors a favor and put that thing in a garage or something...looks real haggard.

This isnt the best way to start a "resurrection".

I'll be one of the few to offer genuine advice:

Even though your coolant reservoir is full, the radiator may not be drawing the coolant from it for one reason or another (loose cap or leaky seal around water pump, for instance). Start the car cold with the radiator cap off, and let the engine warm to operating temperature. Once the thermostat opens up, see if there is coolant visibly flowing through the top tank. If not, first give it a couple small revs and see if you can see short rushes of coolant. If you still don't, carefully fill the radiator until you do. This is how I solved an overheating problem of mine when coolant was leaking from a hidden source.

Also, don't let it idle for too long with the radiator cap off -- it'll eventually start to boil and pop.

i would recommend not resurecting that car, that 1/4 looks like its a giant chunk of bondo, and if it is not bondo, that chassie is bent bad.

Ouch...I definitely missed that rocker panel. It's sad to see an SE in such shape, but yeah, let it go.

Edit: The only way to fix that car properly is to strip it down and hit the entire car with a media blaster.

huh? SE's arent rare or special. all you get with an se is a moonroof that whistles and power windows/mirrors

Ok fine... any 240.

I had an SE hatch and was quite fond of it, which would explain my disdain for this particular specimen.

let me guess, the QP and rocker were mashed in, along w/ the door, the door was replaced, the rest plastered with filler, and then given a nice coat of primer ?

No offense, but here's what I think happened!

I must admit, though, that my S13 Coupe started with a lot of cheap grade Bondo covering the whole quarter panel on the same side. I sanded everything down to metal and discovered a new quarter panel was welded into place (so it was done right for the most part). I went over the damaged areas with Rage Gold professional filler.

Sand that panel down -- you never know what you might find. I'm positively happy that I did

I gave my buddy's Probe a well-deserved kick back in the day.

That'll teach him to have a Probe.

I would believe he put 14k in the motor if a shop did it. labor charges come out to be quite expensive. as long as the chassis isn't messed up in the crucial areas, I would keep it and get overfenders like you said. and the paint job doesn't seem like a bad idea either, maybe even a 200$ maaco job will do it some good.

it could be overheating for alot of reasons. the coolant could be bled improperly, t-stat not working, bad headgasket, etc. it's probably not the stock radiator. but I think your list of things is perfectly fine.

14K??? Yeah, maybe he got his engine gold plated ......

Spend that much money in an engine to run into "critical" cooling issues and wonder if is all related to the radiator at this point....?

Sorry, but I must also raise the flag........
