I am new to car restoration but I have a question or two. I have purchased a 1989 240SX with a KA24E engine in it. I am rebuilding a KA24DE engine to replace it. I know I can get a wire harness to replace the engine harness but my main concern is that the other wires are not in good shape. It looks like they have been spliced in allot of parts. Is there a cable I can buy? I have an electronics background and I also wonder is it too much to try to redo all wires? I have the service manual on pdf to help. I feel if your going to do it right it should be the first time. I dont want to get the engine in the car and spend weeks if not months trubleshooting wiring problems. Maybe someone out there has done this and can suggest do it or dont.

Thanks

What wires are bad you wireing harness to the engine? If so just go to a junk yard and get another one.

ps240sx, I'm in a similar situation to you, with the restoration of an 89 240sx. The wiring can get real hairy real fast. Do one wire at a time, and be sure to make a map of what colors go to what later on. That extra 20 minutes when you're redoing a harness can make the difference between a couple minutes on your next wiring job or a couple hours with a multimeter and alot of noodle scratching.

Toshima/180fan It looks like it is mostly the engine cable which I know I can get from the juck yard. The cables leading up to both fuse/relay boxes look like they (the previous owner/owners) rewrapped it. I guess I can unwrap it and any wires that are damaged re run them.Thnaks for the help and suggestions.
